Topic: Which 302 water pump?

I have a 86-302 in my 66 stang and I`m going to put a 16' electric fan in it that is 3 1/4 inch thick. I have an aluminum radiator with the bottom outlet on the drivers side. I have a standard rotation water pump I don`t know what year but I have only 3 in. clearance. Does anyone know what year of water pump would give me more clearance? And if you do what year pulleys are you running?Thanks,Tony------------------

Tony on page82 of the new Ford racing book.They have a short water pump #-8501-E351S.It's One and half inch shorter.But it says it takes a pully kit they sale also #M-8509-Q.Hope that helps,can you move the rad alittle more forword?

Thanks for info Fastymz. Where would I buy that book? What month is it? Can I look at it online? Buy the way I drove my car yesterday 15 miles home from work and the car ran 170 degrees and the temp outside was 89.So I think I solved my heating problems and that is without fan shroud. Now if I can find the right water pump set up.

were you able to use a ford alternator bracket or did you have to fab something to go with that shorty water pump?

I went with the stock water pump.Just bought shims for the fan blade and used washers for the alternator.I had to use a shorter belt for the alternator because the bracket that you used to tighten the alternator didn't have the full length that it used too. It was rubbing on the alternator so I went with a shorter belt------------------
