Thank you for the welcome!! I sure hope someone knows something about these cars. I would be interested too in any info regarding production # on these 390 pink mustangs. I guess Ford had built a pink mustang with a 390 in it, but they were all given an auto trans? And I am not sure too, but I think there were all hardtops?
Thanks again!

Well, I can honestly say that this is the best site out on the web, and if anyone can answer your question, it'll be someone from here.

The color is Dusk Rose. They did make it in cvs as I saw two of them at shows. One of them had the pink "flavored" a little to be a bit brighter, close to Pepto Bismol. With a white interior, it is striking, forget the personal opinions. There were also some in 68. Remember a feature car in MMonthly that featured a loaded 68 cv in that color. Documented, it was restored by Gelsi's, a Mustang shop somewhere in the New England area. Maybe they only did a few 390's-worth checking with Marti Auto Works to get a report on the car. Considered doing it to a cv, one time, but chickened out. There's 66 cv in Miami that was done in LA and EVERYTHING is pink, engine cmpt, core support, style wheel indents, etc. Just a bit overstated!

Dusk Rose has color code of "S" while playboy pink is special order with a blank color code on the data plate and a six digit number on the DSO.
Dusk rose is pale cotton candy pink while playboy pink is pepto hot pink.

I saw a dusk rose, black vinyl top 390 at a show in Bellevue, WA a few years ago. Also saw one on ebay not too long ago. I watch for pink cars...

If it is playboy pink, special order, Kevin Marti can't tell you how many were made. He can only tell you how many S code (390) special order paint color cars there were, but there are no records on what specific color the special order would be. Of the special order color it is impossible to tell how many were playboy pink. The six digit code had no rhyme nor reason that Kevin is able to explain in how it was assigned by Ford.

My car is special order pink, but in 66 there was not playboy pink nor dusk rose. it is often called playboy or playmate pink, but truthfully that is not correct on a 66.

I frequently receive emails from pink car owners because there is several photos on of my car on the web, including M&M. Everyone has a lot of questions. I wish there was an accurate registry. One was started years ago, but the originator, Bob Finney, died and the records have disappeared. Actually, now I remember Mr. Finney also owned a pink 67 GT 390 coupe which he sold to a Jason Sellers of Kansas City. Mr Sellers is the fellow who took over the registry from Mr. Finney, but has since disappeared. Or we have been unable to locate him. He took money from us to start a pink Mustang newsletter, but we never received any correspondence from him.

Anyway, enough rambling.

Congrats on owning a very nice car!

J.

Pink,
I just took a basic look at Mustang, by the Numbers, from Kevin Marti. He has all the build sheets for '67 - '73 mustangs. In 1967 there wer 940 "S" code four speed Mustang convertibles built. In 1967 you could get a "Dusk Rose" mustang, paint code "S". There were approximately 1 - 97 "Dusk Rose" mustangs built in '67. As for the number of Convertibles delivered to the Los Angeles DSO, there were only 2,076 total units.
To get a better read on your mustang, contact Keven Marti and order a Report. He can get a lot more specific information for you for a fee. But he will need your vin # and or data plate info.

Can someone tell me how to contact Kevin Marti. I just purchased a 1967 Mustang convertible that is in great shape. It was painted red but just found out it was originally pink. I did find the S color code on it.

A friend of mine found out that his white '67 Mustang was originally Dusk Rose. I ran the info through a VIN decoder. He wasn't happy with me, and I haven't let him forget that it's supposed to be pink. hehe

I've seen two Playboy pink 68 hardtops in wrecking yards, both were repainted red.

Somewhere i recall seeing a picture of a Playboy Pink 68 Shelby... the guys running the 68 Shelby site says i must be thinking of the 69 the Playmate of the Year got but how would i have seen that!?! I was sure it was a 68 i saw. Anybody ever seen one?

Tom,
for 1968 everything I have ever seen says there were no "Playboy Pink" Mustangs.

The pink offered as a "special order" and Feb Color of the Month Promo was "Passionate Pink".

I know,we're splitting hairs here

Just checking Sam. Found a '67 Fastback out in Chesepeake for $7,500. Don't worry, I'm not buying either. To close to retirement and the possibility of having to move.

Naw. That wouldn't do. How about putting that hopped up 289 and C-4 into a '30 to '34 Ford Coupe. Now that would be , at least in my opinion. Of course I wouldn't mind dropping a 383 stroker into dad's '30 Model A. I don't think he would like it though.

I have a line on a "Homemade Bucket" but they really messed up and put motorcycle rims on the front end and the only thing I can see putting in it without to much weight is a Pinto engine
