How can I ID a block plate for a manual transmission on a small block. I know they are different between an auto and manual but I have a few of them and don’t see any ID numbers on them. I have one somewhere that is for a manual trans but I don’t know if I found it yet. I don’t want to keep looking for something that I have already found. ------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55

Ed, the block plate for the manual matches up with and covers the entire bellhousing. The one for the automatic has a piece at the bottom cutout for access to the torque converter and that cutout is covered by a separate access panel with one screw on either side.

That’s right! I guess I’ll have to look in the back of the shed after all.

Anyone know if the 428 block plate is different manual to auto? I can't seem to get a consistent answer on this.

Should be the same either way on the FE!

Thanks for the info. I suspected that was the case.
