I am changing over the gas line on my 66 from the six banger line to a line suitable for a V-8.I got the steel line fabbed up pretty good from the tranny crossmember forward but I'm wondering what all holds it in place. So far I've just got the one little clamp on the floor and crossmember and one more on the inside of the front frame rail.Is there supposed to be anything more after the line crosses over to the outside of the frame and goes up through the hole at the front?------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker...................................................................1966 mustang coupe project.289 4 speed,3.20 rear http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html

The steel line runs into the fender well from the wheel side, and it sticks thru the well (engine side) about 1/4 to a 1/2", then it's rubber line on up to the pump. Sorry, my car is at work now, but if this don't help, I will try to post some pics with the digi-camera.------------------ William 68 Coupe 289 Edelbrock 600 Performer Intake Headers/X-pipe/Flowmaster 30's C4 8"rear/2:79gears "Restomod in Progress" Good friends are hard to find, even harder to leave, and impossible to forget.

Thanks Coop.Pictures would be great.I found a hole in the frame rail up closer to the hole where the line goes inside the engine compartment.I'm assuming a bolt and clamp go here to help secure the front end of the line? Also where does the line cross over from inside the frame rail to the outside. There is a spot where the frame rail has a little groove in it just as it starts to bend upwards towards the front end.Is this the spot?I put it up forward of this spot.------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker...................................................................1966 mustang coupe project.289 4 speed,3.20 rear http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html

I crossed mine over right where the front frame rail ends. Not sure where the stock line goes. The guy had all rubber line. Which I replaced with alum line about 5 years ago. Just ran it to where it was far enough away from the heat, and still protected.------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. On my 68, the line crosses id say about a foot in front of where the front eye bolt for the leafs springs is located (rough guess from memory) but the line is also protected with a pretty thick piece of metal (so stone chips dont hit it and rupture it) so you want to look into either finding one or fabricating one just in case. I'll probably check this thread tomorrow so if you need better measurements (or a pic or 2) i might be able to do it before work.... David F.

Sorry about the pics, but it's a new camera, and got a flunkie behind it, so... I will take some first thing in the morning, if David don't beat me to it, and see what we can figure out.

I managed to find a couple of pics on websites that show the line with the front wheel removed so I could see exactly how it goes.I was right about there being a bolt and clamp where the hole is in the frame rail.Looks like I bent it in about the right place as well. The 68 gas line is routed much different being outside the frame rail from much further back.Any pics or measurements would still be appreciated though.------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker...................................................................1966 mustang coupe project.289 4 speed,3.20 rear http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html

From the tank, the 68 line goes down and crosses over rear torque box (protected by a shield} It then runs just behind the pinch weld flange at base of rocker panel. It has a rubber tube junction of about 6" at rear of driver side torque box and then another tubing runs through the driver side torque box, along the front frame rail and into engine cmpt. The 68 line is in a better location, particularly if large diameter exhaust is run. Aids in stopping vapor locks and it is 3/8" in diameter instead of 5/16".

OK, the pics I took are from the front well to the rear end. The pavement is about 2000* right now, and I have to figure out how to download them here. I'll be back, and hopefully with the pics.

No go on the pics for now, but I have a guy at work that can show me how to do this. It will be after 7pm PST, but if at all possible, I will post them then. SORRY, feel like such an IDIOT! mellowyellow pretty much got it all correct, but I know pics can say what words fail.------------------ William 68 Coupe 289 Edelbrock 600 Performer Intake Headers/X-pipe/Flowmaster 30's C4 8"rear/2:79gears "Restomod in Progress" Good friends are hard to find, even harder to leave, and impossible to forget.
