I to am interested in this because I'm thinking of swaping out my tiny 289 for something like a 429 or 460. I'm told that I need a complete new front suspension to handle the added weight.------------------ 1967 Stock 289 My driving restoration project. www.willandlauras67coupe.mustangsandmore.ws/

Sounds like a bumpsteer issue... with the front end that much lower than stock (429 must weigh at least 700# ) the tie rod geometry is such that it'll toe the front wheels out. Mustangs Plus has a bumpsteer correction kit IIRC For specs, I run my front toe at 1/16th in (1/32 per side, not much); camber at negative .5 (hardly anything) and caster at who-knows ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

67AJ, Found a better link;http://www.tristatemustang.com/Member_Pages/Brian/brians_67_mustang.htm Apparently brian did the following: "All suspension has been replaced and upgraded to V8 weight and performance standards including new springs (429 Torino), A arms lowered 1" per Shelby specs, 1 1/8" front sway bar w/ ploy bushings, new rear leaf springs w/poly bushings, Monte Carlo Bar and Export Brace, and welded frame connectors. Original manual steering swapped for factory Ford power assist steering." Hope this helps.

Did you put some heavier coil springs in to support your new weight? If not, change those , and get your ride height, then do alignment last.by adding more positive caster, you increse high speed stability. Gets rid of that loose feel at higher speeds. However, the only drawback is its a little harder to turn at slow speeds ( 0-5mph) especially with wide tires and no power steering, but a good work out for your arms, but worth the new tight feel.
