I'm finally getting the Park brake cable hooked up on my 66 coupe. On the end where you can adjust it,it is very close to the driveshaft.I'm wondering if the metal half circle peice that the cable fits into is the correct part for the mustang.Does anyone have a measurement across the ends of this piece so I can tell how wide its supposed to be?If it were wider it would hold the cable a little further away from each side of the driveshaft.

The half circle piece is the correct one. I don't have any measurements but I do know the cable normally runs very close to the driveshaft.

IIRC there's at least 3/4" clearance on each side of the yoke to the horseshoe. If it's tighter than that, you could spread it a bit if it makes you more comfortable. Once installed, the cable should have ~some~ tension on it, to stabilize it from slopping into a spinning driveline.
