I might be changing over to a 9" rear soon. What are all the parts needed to this? Please include everything you think of, from brake lines, driiveshaft, U-joints etc?

Thanks

I'm not sure of all of the parts that you need, but there are two different types of tubes on them. The '65-'66 K-codes and Shelbys had tapered tubes. The ends were the same diameter as the 8" tubes so you wouldn't need to change out the shock plates and U-bolts. Later, they didn't taper.

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be more specific for you, so be patient.

Scoop, you won't need much. If the new housing has 3" tubes then you'll need new u-bolts and spring pads (for the bolt spacing). The brake lines should swap over with minimal tweaking. Maybe some 3/8" rubber hose for a vent tube. The brake backing plates are a direct bolt-on, no problems there. You might need to shorten your driveshaft
If you're still running the stock driveshaft, concider an upgrade. Not too expensive, I think mine was $175-ish with 3" chrome moly tubing and big u-joints. Had it built by a driveline shop in SoCal, I'm sure there's someone in your neck of the woods who could do the same for you

Big U joints and a 3" chrome moly tubing. Thats just a stronger set up right? Is the Alum drive shaft worth it? Does any one know the number for the big U-joints and will they fit my C-4 trans?

Also I'm thinking of going to a par of CE traction bars too?
Does it make a difference if it uses a short or long Yoke, do they all work with any U-joits?

Ron,
On the U-joints. Take some careful measurements or take the yoke and driveshaft with you to a GOOD auto parts store. There are at least 2 or 3 different sizes in diameter and length but there are special U-joints made that will link the small size to the big size. On the spring pads. I took my 8" pads and welded steel plates to fill in the bottom of them. Then I drilled new holes to fit the larger U-bolts. A lot cheaper than trying to buy 9' spring pads.

Get a nine inch chunk with the short yoke on it, your existing driveshaft should work then, maybe have to use a 1310/1330 hybrid U-joint to match up the size, available from Ford Racing at about $28.

If you need larger u-bolts, you can slot the holes on your existing spring pads to fit the new u-bolts.
