I'm looking at buying an Ivy Green 65 coupe with an interior trim code D8. According to my Mustang Red Book, that translates to Parchment w/Ivy Gold. Right now the car has white seats, door panels, doors, dash, quarter trim and headliner. The dash is black, carpet is what once may have been ivy gold and the package tray is ivy gold. My question is what parts of the interior should be parchment and which should be ivy gold?

Dave,
Take a look at our '65 Fastback in the members photo page. We have that original interior.

Thanks Dave. This Mustang has a 65A body code which is for a standard interior. D8 is listed as parchment/ivy gold but doesn't mention white anywhere. Is yours a deluxe? Your dash looks like it's painted white. The door panels look white also.

BTW, that is a sweet Mustang.

Dave,
Yes, we have the deluxe interior. The dash is Ivy Green and the door panels are white. Looking at my Mustang Data Plate Decoder Book, our '65 may have the 68 Trim Code vice the D8 that you are asking about. I will have to look at the data plate in the morning. Do you have a NPD catalog??? Take a look at the interior seat section to see the combo. Just a thought.

According to www.mustangdecoder.com D8 in 1965 means:

White Crinkle Vinyl with Ivy Gold Appointments, Standard Interior

Dave,
Affirmitive on the NPD catalog. That's what got me wondering about the white. So, it appears that my mustang red book is wrong again. 2 other websites and looking at your car proves that D8 is white with ivy gold. NPD offers white or ivy gold upholstery and door panels. No parchment for 65. Now it appears that the only thing incorrect in the car I'm looking at is the dash pad. Did I mention that the car has AC (not working), C code, C4, original AM radio (less speaker) and power steering?

Yep. That's one of the websites I used.

Thanks.

Sounds like a great car Dave. What about the floor pans and other rust prone areas?? Is it a solid car??? If so, you just may need to add it to your mustang collection.

Still need to see what the trim code is on our '65. Just checked it. The trim code is 68, Ivy Gold vinyl and White interior decor. Not D8. D8 is White Vinyl with ivy gold appt., standard interior.

I'm going back to check the floors. I work with the owners nephew. He said the car has been kept under a carport since his uncle bought it used in 66. I'm hoping everything under the carpet is solid. I'll let you know.
