I need to install a new pressure plate and clutch in my 65 fastback with a toploader and want to know what the recommendations are as far as the best brand to go with. The car sees mainly weekend use with the occasional trip to the dragstrip and some 'spirited' driving.

We had good luck with the Centerforce Dual friction clutch. They hook good and have a light clutch pedle.

Robert, I'll second the CenterForce DF clutch. I just put the diaphragm one in my coupe. I think the part number is DF490030. It seems to engage a little bit different than the "Long" Ford style. I have always used the 10 1/2 inch, this one is a 10". According to CF tech rep it has more holding grip that an equivalent Long 10 1/2. In real world testing, it holds up to ET Streets launching a 4500 rpm. Pedal pressure is considerably lower also. Makes Nashville traffic easier to handle.

Have your flywheel resurfaced, regardless of style or make of clutch you put in.

Mike

yea good point get it resurfaced b/c it limits the life of the new clutch. I heard star clutches arnt bad. hell I use the napa top of the line clutch kit. unless you have a large amount of power I would just get that. but Im a cheap skate lol
