The 67 mustang I am restoring had the wiring cut at the connector in the engine compartment for the back up light circuit. It is connected coming through the firewall, but then the other side of the connector in the engine compartment has the wires cut off. To complete the circuit should I connect from there through the back up light switch?

I think so. Its that way on my 68. Mine is an auto and the wires are all bundled together from the neutral safety switch. if yours is a manual trans your switch will be different but I think your logic is correct.

The wires run from the tranny up through the engine bay, through the connector, through the firewall (into the main bundle) and then to the back of the car.
