I'm thinking about shipping my stang from Seattle to Phoenix. Would anybody who's had experience with this have a ballpark idea of what it would cost to have that done?

Georgia to Chicago was $800 two years ago.

Your price will depend on the size of the company, as sometimes the little guys have less overhead. It will also depend on the timing, if you can catch somebody that needs to make a return trip and they would have been empty, they might give you a break on the price just so they have a full load.

Make sure they are insured for the value of your car, and take detailed photos of each panel before it gets loaded. For the 'Peace of Mind' factor you might want to go with a larger company, unless a little guy is very highly recommended.

I would work in reverse, seeing if there is a Phoenix based company that will be bringing a car to Seattle, then have them take your car on their return trip.

I would say $1000 is ballpark.

From what I've read.. pay a little more and feel a little safer. I found one site where they reviewed a ton of shipping companies... so many had horror stories that I ended up driving to pick the car up instead of having to worry about it being shipped down.

I shipped mine from Texas to Detroit a year ago. There are a few options:

1) open trailer or closed? Closed costs more but offers more protection

2) top bunk or bottom? Top costs more but you don't get fluid drips from above

3) pickup/delivery or depot service? I bought from a guy near Dallas. He dropped the car at the shipping company's depot there and they shipped it to their depot in Detroit where I picked it up. Saved quite a bit that way.

To ship mine was about $800. It got there in no-time, either by luck of the draw, or there aren't as many people willing to pay a bit more for the top bunk - I did.

Good luck! Call lots of places, and ask lots of questions!

I had mine shipped from Indiana to Los Angeles and it cost $1100.00 to deliver to my doorstep. It was from DAS - Dependable Auto Shippers. Open Trailer. I had no problems.

$900 to ship mine from Oregon to Texas. Open single layer trailer. No problems except the clutch in the truck went out when he was about 5 hours away. I was really tempted at that point to drive up and get the car. But instead 2 days later he safely delivered it to my house. I think the company was 'car on a truck', catchy uh?
