I recently had a 289 2v rebuilt for my sons 65 coupe. After about 500 miles the car began to knock and vibrate at about 3000 rpms. the knock only happens when the car is warmed up. The vibration was immediate sitting and moving. My mechanic is telling me that the flywheel is cracked. A second opinion is telling me its the harmonic balancer. Any ideas? I have no clue. Does the flywhel turn when the car is stationary?

Welcome to M&M !
Although 289 flex plate cracking is common, I doubt if that is the source of your knock based on the information you have provided.
Simple test for you to perform will help localize the knock.
Loosen all of the spark plug wires from the distributor cap so the can be pulled off one at a time easily.
Start the engine and run it until it begins to knock.
With a pair of insulated pliers, pull plug wire boots off the distributor cap one at a time until the noise dissapears or subsides.
Get back to us with the results and we can give you some possibilities.
