I have a couple of emails out on this so if you got one sorry about the dup questions.I am almost ready to put my motor together. For some of you who don't know it is: '95 HO Offenhauser 360 intake Electric Ignt and will be set up to run with the old style belt etc. I have a two barrel carb that I had with my Mustang when I got it. I am now on the search for a carb set up. I am looking for a 4bl but wanted to see if the 2bl had any advantages or if there would be any reasons to keep it? Just wanted to through this out there to you folks and see what you have for thoughts. Thanks very much. Happy New Year! Anybody around here going to recommend the 2bl?I'll be the first to say go with a 4bl. More power. Cool. Manly. Argh, Argh, Argh. I'll also be the first to say if you keep your foot out of it, you can actually get the same or better gas mileage as a 2bl, but ignore anybody who says that, chances are if you have it you'll use it, and there goes the better gas mileage.

you will probably notice very little difference in the 2bbl untill it gives out on you at high rpm. assuming that it is a good 2bbl. Advantages of the 2 barrel motorcraft carb are: Better driveability, less tinkering, more dependable. More bottom end torque. (for street) Better fuel economy.I've always found Holley's are a pain on the street, Carter's/Edelbrock's aren't much better. 4100's are ok. I've been using Rochester Q-jets on my carbed Fords for years.....very happy with them. Let the flamage begin!

I had one of those brand new Hollys but the seller informed me that he had to pass it to his brother due to a car fire a few days ago so I am out of luck again.I looked into getting the other one that is out there in the sale forum but I think it may be a bit big for me. Since I have been researching and talking to some folks here. I think I want a autolite 4100. You got one for me? LOL.

Get a decent buildable core off Ebay and we'll help YOU do it. You're good at this stuff, you can handle building a 4100! You're doing the engine work yourself and you can do this too!

I did some looking last night but then my darling wife got a little upset that I was not helping with putting the kids to bed.Hey question, do the 4100's have electic chokes or manual? Richard.

Most had the "heat tube" style of choke, but they can be converted to electric very easily.

Easy choke to work on, and if you get a core that's missing the choke stuff you can use the same parts off a Autolite 2100 2barrel to replace the choke. I'm watching some on Ebay right now, there's a handful that end in about 5 days.

Scott,What do I need to look for in a good core. I know you mentioned the tag numbers. One was bigger and to go with the smaller one. Anything else? With luck the motor will be ready to drop in this spring and I will have a good carb to run it with.

To the best of my knowledge.....4100's came in 2 sizes. 289 carbs were approx. 480 CFM, and 352/390/410/428 carbs were approx. 600 CFM. Here's some tag numbers;64-66 289 C6ZF-A 63-64 390 C3AF-R 65 352/390 AUTO C5AF-AC 65 352/390 MAN. C5AF-AU 66 390/410 MAN. C6AF-E 66 390/410 AUTO C6AF-F They still come up on the NAPA Pro-link system here in Canada, give it a try. That's where I got my 4100's from in the past. Buy a rebuilt carb and go from there. Hey I have been there several times.Believe it or not I was on the Canadian National Tumbling & Tramploine team. Did some coaching and had a club in the US hire me. Met a beautiful Ohio girl. Woke up here. LOL. There is a little more to it than that but you get the idea. My family and friends are all still in Edmonton though. I hope to go back and visit in the fall but we will see what the $$ has to say. Glad to see that Mustangs are alive and kicking back home to. Man I whish they had more hockey on TV down here. Now do you or anyone else have a 4100 carb for me? [This message has been edited by rmousir (edited 12-30-2005).]

the stock 289 2bbl flowed 280 cfm and the larger BB 2 bbls flowed around 350.The offy 360 is basically alot like the stealth but the stealth and performer rpm/air gap are better. If its a stock 5.0 roller engine I'd say go with a road demon or RD jr 525 cfm. It has annular boosters like the old autolite 4100's. A basically stock 5.0 doesentt need much more than 525 cfm, if you want more go a 625 cfm model but the 525 will give you more low end and better throttle response, a 575 holley avenger would be ideal too but its much more than the demon jr and at least in my experience the demon is the best carb I have ever used (some will disagree) edelbrocks work good too but are down on power compared to holley and demon but they are reliable. Upgrade that intake to a wieand or edelbrock. one last sugestion, find a holley 2bbl projection TBI on ebay, they blow away the best carbs....better throttle response, low end torque and usually about 2-4 mpg's as well and even cooler you can turn knobs while driving to adjust choke, accell pump, idle, mid and power.......no jetting float levels power valves or anything like tuning a carb. They can be found as cheap as a new carb on ebay.
