The procar seats that i've put into my '66 convert sit up pretty high underneath the steering wheel --- It's pretty tough to slip in and out of the car.

Have any of you successfully chopped down the frame so the seats could sit lower???
Thanks Mustangers.....

They have instructions on the Mustang Plus catalog on how to cut out the seat pan (undearneath the seat) to free up some room). Its something to look into instead of hacking into the actual seat... David F.

Here's an article from the Tech Section for installing late model seats in an early model Mustang. She reused her original seat tracks due to the same problem you've described. This may be an option for you.

When I put the 85 GT seats in my 66 fastback,, I used my original tracks and it helps..

An alternative to cutting out and reversing the floor pan,, is to drill new holes 3" back.. You may have to bolt in a piece of square stock or angle iron for the back bolts on the track,, but it's easy to do..

Here's a simple drawing of the floorpan with one of Seat Tracks moved back 3"..

Of course this is duplicated and once bolted in the seat is very solid & secure..

You can cover the angle iron with your carpet and doesn't show..

This gives you lots of leg room as well as head room,, especially if you are 6' or taller..
