PO replaced standard 65 gauges with 66 gauges, a couple of the gauges aren't working (fuel, temp, oil). Is the under-dash wiring completely different and not compatible w/ the 66 gauges or should it all work if connected properly? Haven't had a chance to remove and take a look yet just wanted to see if it would even work. Went ahead and ordered an engine gauge feed harness; PO had tapped into it about 6 different times for various wires here and there, maybe that'll cure some of the gauges?

Hoping to almost be done with everything this guy has worked on. Seems like every part of the car hes touched hes messed up. Thankfully he didn't do the breaks or the rear end.

I think they are the same except for the amp gauge.

The fuel gauge and the temp gauge would be the same wires. The oil uses a light bulb in 65 and two wires in 66, and the sending unit is different.

When you have three gauges not working, the most common source of the problem is the one thing all three have in common - the instrument cluster voltage regulator.

Other than that, those three gauges will all ground via their respective sending units. The sending unit is a resisitance to ground, in other words a full ground which offers no resistance would indicate full (or hot, or high pressure) on the gauge.

I did the same thing to my '65. Scott's right. The fuel and temp guages hook up the same way as the original. If you are using the instrument voltage regulator from the original cluster, and it worked, then you've got issues somewhere else.
