I am replacing the driver door data plate after refinishing the interior side of the doors. I was wondering if anyone knows what the proper method of expanding the new rivets is. It appears that the convex portion inside the rivet has to pushed in to expand it but I don't want to ruin them by doing it incorrectly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The data plate rivets are soft aluminum. Gently tap them in the center using a flat ended round punch, etc. Be gentle! Also, put a bit of contact cement on the back of the plate to secure it. The rivets by themselves will often leave the plate loose. Last time I think I used the top end of a ballpoint. It was good for a couple raps on the other end before it wasted out! LOL!.
