What a waste, it is bad enough that everybody and their grandmother wants to do an Eleanor clone, but to destroy an "R" code is nuts.I think there are still enough 67 or 68 stangs out there that need restoration and have small blocks in them, if you are going to butcher one at least do it to one that is more abundant. I personally do not like the Eleanor clone and would not do it to any mustang. Just my .02 worth

I agree. I'm so angry I don't even want to look at all the pictures. I HATE Eleanors not because I hate them as cars, but I hate what they represent. And to waste a great car in that way is a crying shame.

Yea, it’s a killer combination because it kills the real value of the car!

Wow that sucks. The 68 1/2 is one of my favorite cars...It says the owner did the Eleanor conversion before the 68 1/2s and shelbys became valuable????I don't think the Eleanor movie has been out that long. ------------------ 68 J-Code,Sprint,306 4 speed,4.11s 13.69@101............... 66 coupe 289 4 speed, 3.20 cruiser http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy2.html

As if the value of the car in stock form is not enough, they have to result to the marketing ploy of a movie tie-in to inflate the value of the car. The value just plunged in my opinion. What really steams me is when someone sees a real vintage '67 GT-350 or GT-500 Shelby and calls it an Eleanor. The '67's were one of the finest designed Shelbys, with the upper and lower scoops paying tribute to the GT-40. Even if the mid placed hood scoop didn't catch as much air as the further forward design of the '68, I still feel it is a classic that should remain untouched. A Shelby clone would have been preferable over an Eleanor. I may be ranting, but I love the second gen cars. Sorry, but why screw with a good thing? Charlie

There is a "R" code 68 sitting in a garage in Kamloops B.C. that the guy is turning into a Shelby clone.I haven't heard anything about it in the last few years,I hope he has changed his mind..------------------ 68 Fastback 427MR 4 spd.Deluxe interior,8000 tach,140 speedo,am/fm,tilt.

A waste of a good car. At least my "H" clone started as a basket case 289 2V FB... Too many people jumping on the B-J & Eleanor bandwagon. Pretty soon all the stock Mustangs that are left will be the high dollar cars instead of the clones!

Don't Fret!! Remember something like 1,000,000 Mustangs were made by the end of 66, another 500,000 or so by 68. You only hear about 1 or 2 cars getting outrageous prices here or ther. The deals are still out there to be found. In my opinion the problem isn't somebody putting $50,000 into a car with new-car suspension, drivetrain and looks and selling it for $80,000. The problem I see is the guy who has a POS rust bucket that slaps on a couple pieces of fiberglass and an Earl Sheib paint job, lets a blue paint bomb go off under the hood and a black one in the interior and thinks his car is now worth $8,000, or worse, $18,000, when its still only a $3,000 car if that.

The $8K or $18K rust bucket is a sure case of "Buyer Beware". And there are definately some of them out there (high priced POS's)!
