Threw in the towel re rattle cans in interiors, thanks to the thin as water "product" that is being palmed off by vendors. As lacquer is slowly being literally squeezed out of existance in the US, it is getting harder to do. Doing an interior in 66/7 red. yeah-yeah, it's NOT original in a 68! BFD! Remembered an ol' Lucite code # for the red and called a company, named Colorite, in East Bangor, Pa.(not Maine) Gave them the code on Tues, UPS delivered it Fri. in a qt. And it's dead on! Smeared a bit off my finger on a new 1/4 trim vinyl yet to be installed and it literally disappeared! If you have spray equip, have access to those old Lucite Interior codes, it would help a lot of us in geeting the right stuff. My paint store was destroyed after Andrew, in 92 and was unable to replace the old chip books. In case anyone wants the code for 66-7 red it is 9262LH-DuPont Lucite Code. In the past always found their interior colors to be on the money.

Qu1: Why is lacquer getting squeezed out of existence there? Is that an EPA issue? Qu2: As you know I've only been in this business a few short years. I use Pylox lacquer rattle cans, made by Nippon Paint - Nippon = Japan, but you knew that Are you familiar with this stuff? Seems good to me, or is it thin as water in your opinion?

Never heard of Nipon brand-probably good as it's not regulated. Yes, it is a gov. deal. Not totally unfounded, as lacquer, thinners, etc., do not break down when dumped and can go into watertable.

Don't need any more sources. Colorite answered it for me. They mixed me a rattle can for exterior of my 66 and it was perfect. Will confine the rattles to Krylon, etc. Was hoping that someone had aaccess to an old DuPont paint chip book so the numbers could be used for spraying. You know, have never been in Grainger's. Drive by one every week.
