My 289 2 barrel is running too rich because I have soot on the ground when the car sits running out of the exhaust pipe. The carb is a autolite 2100 and I dont know which screw adjusts the mixture. Does anybody have any experience on this to let me know what screw and how much I should turn it each time? Thanks for the help, I'm trying to get lots done on the car this weekend because the weather is finally getting nicer around here and I wanna drive!! Notre Dame, Indiana

Here is a great article I found when I rebuilt my 2100 last fall. http://www.advanceautoparts.com/english/youcan/html/pht/pht20020301cr.html# The mixture screws you are looking for are in the front of the carb under the float bowl. Are you sure your choke is opening all the way? If not you will be running rich when it warms up. ------------------ '68 302 2v C4 All stock ragtop

the choke butterfly will be open (vertical) all the way. Take off the air cleaner and look into the top of the carb... David F.
