I have just realized that I have no real idea what the carby jet sizes mean, my 4100 has 48F primary and 58F secondary jets .... what does the 48 etc refer to and what does the F refer to

TIA,
John......

You might want to try posting this in the Ford Racing forum. That is where the Carb guru's are.

I on the other hand am worthless to answer your question

If I recall, they are based on standard drill sizes.
According the the shop manual, an example of stock sizes for a 1966 289 A-code with a 1.08 carb would have 48F for the primaries and 57F for the secondaries in a 49-state car with an auto trans, and 46F and 58F for a thermactor car.
For a manual trans they change slightly to 47F and 58F with termactor control, 49F and and 58F for the 49-states version.

The Autolite numbers don't make sense.
Try adding .01 to the number on the jet.

All times are ET (US)
