Hello, new to the site, recently I purchase a 66 Fastback with a 289, sorry that my first post is with a dumb question but I need your help..I set the RPM by "ear" with the engine warm, trans on drive and a/c on, please can you tell me the proper way to do it and what instrument I have to purchase to do it..thank you

Tachometer/Dwell meter usually available at your favorite parts store (at least they used to be). Should come with instructions. While you are there you might want to get a timing light. And in the right hands a vacuum gauge is a wonderful thing, but I won't go into that here.
