Have an 89 HO FINALLY going into my 68.....after a too long layup!

Also installing an AOD from Lentech. Understand that it is setup to use original shifter. Have a flexplate that I got with a lot of EFI pieces which will not go on-going carb. The plate measures 14" from tip of tooth straight across to tip of tooth. The four holes on outer edge are 8" apart on center. The tooth count...may be off a tooth in count, is 165. Does this sound right? Has a weight that is 4.5" X 1" X 7/16" Also have what I believe is the correct aluminum 2 pc blockplate

Assuming this is right, what do I need for a starter. Do I need a later one with the GM type solenoid on top of starter? Hope not.

Also: Is it true that the front yoke on drivshaft is OK but with 1" cut off?

Using a 67-8 Ron Morris crossmember from NPD, a Lokar throttle valve cable and bracket mounting to a 600cfm Edelcrock manual choke carb. The shift rod is from W-Fox who I believe is now out of business?

I'll bet the '89 starter will work.

Anyone else put a 5.0 and AOD in a '68? What did you use for a driveshaft?

Your starter will work fine, i;d be surprised if you didn;t have to shorten your driveshaft.
I was running an 8.8" so i can;t tell you the length you would need.
I;ve heard if you use a 1" shortened yoke from a T-5 your good to go, but can;t confirm this.

I put a 5.0 HO 1991 STANG engine in my 67 coupe with the stock c4 trany.Had to shorten the drive shaft but got a new one built(stronger and better ballence for high speeds). Also had to get 67 fly wheel balenced the same as 91 5.0 HO.Had to use 67 flex plate and fly wheel for the starter to work. BUT my car had the c4 3 speed auto tranny. Not sure if your's did.(From factory)(:
