Hey All!!!

Okay, my latest problem. I bought and have rebuilt a 390 from a 74 F250. I have new motor mounts that are not even close to fitting on the block. SO before I start fabricating any suggestions??? By the way how do I post pictures?

Oh, by the way this is going in my 67 Coupe.

Thanks everyone!!!

You don't need to fabricate anything if you get the correct parts. The peice that bolts to the block(with 4 bolts) has a stud at each end that attaches to a lower piece that a long bolt goes through and attaches it to the frame mounts(the same as the smallblock mounts).I've heard there are big block specific frame mounts as well but I'm not sure what years or styles need them.I've done a couple big block swaps all into small block cars and the frame mounts worked on a couple but on one they didn't.I still managed to get it to work by elongating the holes in the mount so the bolt would go through.

If I read your post correctly you can't get your new motor mounts bolted to the block. Sounds like the wrong motor mounts. Like mustangboy said you may have to change both the part that bolts to the block and the part that bolts to the frame. Would motor mounts from a 74' F250 frame bolt onto your 67' frame? Then you can just use the motor mounts for the 74' 390. Just a thought. I had a helluva time getting my new motor mounts to fit in my 66' but after posting my issues others fessed up that they don't always fit well and need to be massaged (BFH and pry bar did it for me).

The FE pickup mounts are way different. They are flat 1 piece units. The factory FE Mustang mounts require a U shaped bracket that bolts to the block. The rubber mount then bolts to the bracket, and then onto the cars frame mounts. It kinda seems like he either has the wrong mounts, or is missing some pieces.

Okay,

So here are the pieces I am dealing with. The truck motor mounts are exactly as described, and I purchased new 67 Mustang 390 Motor Mounts from NPD. The motor mounts from NPD line up perfectly in the engine compartment, no alterations needed, but the mounting holes on the block are waayyyy different.

Okay, I made a quick website, check out the pictures.

You need six pieces total for a 390 in a '67 chassis, three per side.

2 - frame brackets-which are NOT the same as 289/302 brackets. They look similar but when you see the two side by side you see the difference.

2 - rubber insulators-which you have

2 - upper block brackets-which are specific to FE engines in the '67-'70 Mustangs.

See if Crites Restorations ropops that upper bracket. They did the 429 '70/'71 Torino upper bracket, which is very similar in design.

I used the same frame brkts when I swapped from small block to big block..

I have seen and read the documentation that says you need different mounts and have seen the mounts with different holes. My frame mounts did not have the extra hole.

I dont discount what they say,but for what ever reason I did not have to change mine.

The mount on the left is what I see the BB cars having and the one on the right is for SB cars. I’ve heard others say that the 67 BB and SB frame mounts are the same but I can’t say for sure since I’ve only had 68 and 69 BB cars.

I don't see the upper half of the motor mount that bolts to the block in your pictures.Do you have that piece? If not you are missing half of the mount. It bolts to the block and has studs which go through the two holes in the outer end of those pieces you have...Once you have all that then you can worry about the frame mounts
