I ordered a Hi-Po H-pipe from NPD and it showed up today. Shipping carton was hanging open with clear plastic tape all over the place. LH flange has damage to the pipe and is no longer round where it mates up to the manifold. (There is a hole in the end of the carton where it punch through.) I ran a pipe expander through it and work the bugs out of that. Go to mount the H pipe on the car and find it's bent. I'm not sure where, but it doesn't mate up square with the manifolds. NPD didn't pack this very well at all. The pipe was just thrown in a box with a couple sheets of paper. Anybody who knows about UPS knows they are extremely rough on shipments. Now, do I try to fix the problem so I can get that car to a show tomorrow evening? Or do I wait and take a chance on another shipment and skip the show? On the bright side, I received my replacement gauge harness yesterday. Bill

The lesson learned is never sign for a package that is damaged. Check with the delivery service maybe they noted the damage. If it's just bent around and twisted might be easier to form it into shape. But if it has kinks and is distourted check on return policy. Everybody who mail orders gets screwed with damaged shipping. Good luck with the show. Darryl

All shipping companies are hard on packages and the box/packaging you recieved it in is not nescesarilly the way it left NPD. If UPS breaks open a box, they will re-box it and keep it moving. Then they blame the shipper for inadequate packaging. We ship quite a bit where I work and every once in a while a package will get to a customers damaged. When we get pictures of it, the package isn't even in a box we use, or the filler material is missing etc... I know if doesn't help you at all but just an observation from first hand experience. I would skip the car show and get a good part. It is early in the year. There will be pleny more shows and you won't have to worry about jury rigging the pipe to work. Just my $0.02 phil

Just call NPD and tell them what happened.

I called NPD right after opening the box. They said that is the way they ship the H-pipes---loose. Was told to call back during 8-5 hours if I needed further assistance. There was nothing to sign, so there was no way to refuse it. The UPS driver looked at the box with me when he dropped it off and said it got opened because it was so big with little inside to keep in from crushing under the weight of other packages. I didn't notice the hole in the end until I pulled the pipe out and started rooting around for the paperwork. I have a whole lot of experience with UPS and most of what I receive and ship is packaged with lots of padding. In the end I man-handled it enough that it mates up OK and seals. I just didn't want to have to cut or grind on it Got it together at 6:30PM Friday and headed for the show that went from 5:30 to 10PM. Made my 10 year old happy as we were able to drive Dad's car to the show. 1st show of the year and most likely the last, unless I can find the time to hit another. Thanks for all the feedback. Bill
