Hi guys,I'm a proud Belgian owner of a '66 coupe. It has a 302 in it, c4 woth standard stall (looking for a 2500rpm), Edelbrock RPM intake, Holley 600cfm carb, HEI Ignition, 3.50 gears, tri-Y headers, a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy XE274H Cam. Biggest bump is that the engine has some late heads on it. Low compression ... So I bought myself Ford Racing SVO 289 302 turbo swirl aluminum heads, 1.94" & 1.54" valves, competition springs, 1.6 ratio aluminum full roller Motorsport rockers. What can I expect of this change? Greets

they should be worth a bunch. They dont flow as well as the trick flow or AFR type heads, but you should feel big difference. You probably had 300hp before, now I would guess at about 330-340.------------------

You should pick up 40 hp at the crank. If you haven't already, be prepared to start using premium fuel. You're going to need at least 92 octane.

HeyHere in Belgium lowest octane is 96, I use 98 all the time so that's ok. Can't wait to mount the heads and try them. Thx for the reply guys

I'm curious what pistons it has in it. If they are dished or flat I'm thinking it would still be pretty cool but if they are domed, holy cow, what a ride, and good thing you have 98 octane.

What CC are the SVO heads? Most ford motorsport heads are about 64CCs which is still a pretty large combustion chamber. They probably won't boost your compression much if at all unless you have the big 68cc chambered D80E or something like that. The aluminium heads usually allow a higher compression ratio before detonating so octane levels shouldn't be much of a concern.------------------ 68 J-Code,Sprint,306 4 speed,4.11s 13.69@101............... 66 coupe 289 4 speed, 3.20 cruiser http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy2.html [This message has been edited by mustangboy (edited 05-05-2006).]

These heads are 64cc chamber, 160cc intake port volume and 53cc exhaust port volume. The heads mounted now are the more recent 302 heads, and they suck big time! Guess their combustion chambers would be around 69cc

Europe and the US rates octane in gasoline in different ways.It is not the same. ------------------
- VIN 1F05M139343
- 71 Mach 1 Ram-Air
- 351C 4V 285 HP
- E-F-G/SA
- Stockers are way cool!

That's great. You'll get a little boost in compression as well as much better air flow
