I can't find any good diagrams of big block clutch fork boot installation and nothing I do quite looks right.

There is a slot in the end of the boot and a little hole about 3/4" from the end on one side. As near as I can tell the little hole faces forward to accept the end of the lower linkage rod and the end of the fork protrudes out of the slot to expose the hole in the fork for the lower spring. Have I got this right?

Also do I need a lower shifter boot for a Hurst Competition Plus shifter and will a stock lower shifter boot fit?

Thanks.

It sounds like you have the clutch fork boot figured out OK. As for the shifter lower boot, Personally I have never used one with an aftermarket shifter. My buddy`s 70 Boss 429 had the original boot for the Hurst/Ford shifter, but I am unaware of one made for an aftermarket Comp/Plus shifter. The trans tunnel area isn`t really all that "dirty" of a location anyways, unless you plan on driving into lakes, of lots of dirt roads.

The fork boot sounds correct.

As far as a lower boot for the Hurst shifter, I haven’t gotten an answer if one is made for that shifter either. I don’t think the one for the Ford shifter will work.
