I finally found a 9 inch after months of searching. It's from a 59 wagon, 28 spline 3.10:1 gears. Looking at the 3rd member how do I tell if it's a locker, posi, or single track? (Did I get double lucky) I have the pumkin out and looking into the axle splines holes,a locker doesn't have a pin? Don't have a clue what a posi looks like.

Second question, rear disc? I've done a Granada swap up front and I would like to do a disc swap in the rear. I've seen some info about a Cadillac swap but I can't bring myself to use Chebby parts on my Ford. What have you guys done with Ford parts and results? Thanks Darryl

Do you know what the bolt pattern is on the axle retainer? If it is the same as the 8 and 9” in a Mustang you can swap over a set of rear discs from an Explorer. Also what is the wheel bolt pattern?

It is the small bearing the same as the 8 inch. I thought the Explorer swap was for the big bearing? What years of Explorers will work? As for wheel bolt pattern it's also the same, for right now I will be useing my 8 inch axles instead of the '59s.

Thanks Ron, very informative site. That's the good news. The not so good is the 3rd member is open. But that can and will be fixed in time. Thanks again.

I’m not positive but I thought it had the same retainer pattern as a Crown Vic and that the truck one was larger. The wheel bolt pattern is the same as the Mustang.

Check out
Cobraautomotive.com

They Have rear disc brake kits. I'm thinking of going with discs on mine too.
Old Explorer discs would be A LOT cheaper to...if they will work.

Mustangs Unlimited has SSB kits for $699.95
