I have a 68 coupe and I was told to check the numbers on the fenders under the hood to find out the date they were made.
The numbers are 11 29 2 -left fender
11 20 2 -right fender

What do they mean???
probably nov 29.........whats the 2 stand for???

Thanks!

Sorry, thought you answered your own question.

Such stampings (and castings on other parts of the car) are very common, and simply help plant managers keep track. I like the little clocks on blocks!

Just to take it a bit further, many of the stampings include a letter following the shift and that would the plant location.

RJ,

Have you determined the VIN and where it was made?

Mine is a San Jose Mach I. The numbers on the shock tower, written by hand with a white marker of some sort, driver's side are upside down. When read right side up they are - 205 11-14-68. My guess is that it was the 205th car made on 11-14-68.

I have been careful not to paint over these numbers, since I believe it gives further history on the car.

It's a high altitude car with no smog pump ever installed on the 351W.

Thank you, Thank you very much!

There is another stamp in the area where the trunk lid comes down and meets the rear quarter. I believe it says 11 9 2W I wonder what that W stands for??
Where are these clocks on the block??
