I don't know what you call them, but when you lay back the upright part of the bucket seat in my 67 coupe, there is an allen bolt that WAS screwed into the back and it hit a rectangular plate on the bottom portion of the seat. I was putting the car away today when all of a sudden I became a low rider driver. The allen screw broke out of the back of the seat. I looked at the passenger seat and it had a different setup. I think I'll just make a bracket out of aluminum and wood to take up the space. Anyone else have any good ideas?------------------ reliving youth

If it snapped, there is a piece left in the seatback you drill to take out. Then just thread another bolt in there. It wasn't originally an allen bolt, so someone has changed it thru the years.

That's what I thought too, until I removed the allen bolt and part of the bracket came out with it.

its the seat adjuster so if you can come up with another way, such as the block you mentioned, to set it you should be fine. When you go to recover the seats you can fix it then the right way or you can use this as a good excuse to get some cool buckets like the ones from Mustangs+. Richard.
