I have a 68 390 with stock power front disc brakes and when I bleed them, the pedal initally collapses easily, purging the fluid properly. But by the 3rd or 4th pump of the pedal, the pedal effort skyrockets and very little fluid comes out. If I let it sit for a bit, I can repeat the process, but I can never get more than 1 or 2 pumps with good fluid flow which is not normal. Is it the proportioning valve reacting like a front brake line has failed? Any suggestions on how to resolve? The calipers are new, and the flxible lines are new.

Is the car running to provide vacuum to the booster while you are doing this? Three or four pumps is all a booster has without the engine running.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 XL

Interesting idea, although I must admit, over the years, I have never had to run the engine to bleed brakes. We just did a 73 Vette with power brakes and did not have to run the engine. Do you typically run your engine while bleeding brakes?
