Hi,
I just picked up my 66 Mustang fiberglass hood. how do i prep that for 2k primer? Same as normal body prep? Can I just sand on it?

Thanks.

I haven't painted fiberglass for a long time, but I'm at the same point with my hood. My buddy (who has huge fiberglass experience with jet skies and bikes) says to block it with 180 grit and a long board. Prime with catalized primer then reblock wet with 320 grit. I like to use a guide coat here to work out any waves or anything. If there is enough material left wet sand to 600 for solid or 800 if its a metalic top coat, if not reprime. Good Luck

Darryl,
should have asked...but you wouldn't happen to be using hood pins are you? im wondering if I can just drill the holes that are needed or if there is something that I should be watchin out for. thanks.

No I'm not using hood pins, but you should use a wood point twist drill, looks like a regular drill but it has 3 points the middle is the biggest. If you put a piece of wood on the back side and drill into that it should help keep it from fraying out to much. I would do all my drilling and fitting before I prime, just in case you have to repair.
