What could be the possible problems if my spark plugs keep on burning almost every 5-10 miles. It happened to me three times already. I have a pertronix ignitor II installed.

How are the plug broken? A physically broken plug in 10 miles seems like mechanical interference to me What motor do you have, what plugs are you using? I would stop putting new plugs in and driving NOW until you figure out what is going on. If the plugs are broken, you have to wonder where the little bits are going!!! Give us some more info. It will help diagnose your problem. [This message has been edited by senzstang (edited 06-15-2006).]

Mike - just a thought. What brand plugs are you using? Where did you buy them? My long-time supplier in Binondo is now selling Chinese plugs for Ford that are half the price of Autolite, Bosch, NGK etc. I haven't tried them and don't intend to.

They are just burned and not useable. It might be old stock plugs.

Before I rebuilt my engine. It happened to me once and thought I just needed to rebuild it. But after everything is done, it happened to me once again about 2 months ago but I don't use the car often and after I changed spark plugs, it happened to me again recently.

I tried the champions(which I think is old stock) first and then riverside(I also think is old stock) and now I'm using autolites(which looks like is brand new). It might have something to do with the age of the plugs, I'm not sure though.

If you can get them, pick up the Autolite 45's, and gap them at .034, even with the Pertronix.------------------ William The easiest way to find something lost, is to buy a replacement. 68 Coupe 289 C4 3:55's/Trac-Lok

I use Bosch Platinums gapped at .045. One of my cylinders is fouling a plug, but even that doesn't need attention for about 3-4 years! Something must be drastically wrong if it only lasts a few minutes.------------------ reliving youth
