Hey all,my oil pump pressure gage in the dash (stock gage) is alwasy just inside the low if regestering at all. I know there is good pressure as I have the new-er motor, new sending unit, new wiring. Just not a new motor. My other gages all seem to work just fine. I figure it may be time for a new gage but then if it is bad wouldn't my others be bad? Thanks. I know my 66 had/has a regulater on the back that's adjustible, but will also affect the other guages as well.------------------ "Be yourself everyone else is taken" http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/adragon8u.html

Richard, If there is a concern on pressure, a mechanical gage is cheap insurance as to what you really have. The reading on the stock gage could be from a mismatched sending unit to the voltage regulator that is mounted on the back of the gage cluster to possibly a 40 year old gage.Mike

I would suspect the gauge in the dash, since you already have good wiring and a good sending unit. And the other gauges are okay, so the instrument voltage regulator is fine. The remaining culprit is the 40 year old inaccurate factory gauge. Its more of an indication that you do indeed have pressure, rather than an indicator of how much pressure you have.

The cheapest way to check would be to get a new sending unit for your model year. Like Mike said, the unit and your gauge probably don't match.

Thanks folks.I am thinking about replacing all of the gages but I will look into at least the oil pressure one. Would like to have white faces. You can adjust both the end point and "reaction" on the factory guages. I did both to get my fuel guage to register porperly. I think I saw somethign about this in my '67 Ford manual.Brian ------------------ "My lug nuts require more torque than your Honda makes" 472ci in a '67 Coupe, 4 wheel disc, 2 much fun www.472ci-67mustang.com =======>>>>> Got Displacement? <<<<<======
