Ok,

I have a custom autosound radio USA-05 which I bought last year, it takes tapes (who knows why it takes tapes in 2006!!), and has a CD input at the back, a DIN plug.

Now I want to attach my ipod to it, I've been using the tape adaptor thingy for a while, but it clutters up me car, and my understanding is that the CD input will need an "everything is ok" signal to work, (can't just splice it in, also I don't want to use an FM modulator (quality/reliability).

has anyone managed to find a solution for this, I'm sure there are a lot of people out there with the same radio and ipods.

I've never heard of a DIN plug on the back for the CD. Maybe it's for the CD changer? I dunno.

I wouldn't put down the possibility of using an FM modulator. They've improved quite a bit over the last few years. That's what Sirius and XM Radio use for their mobile systems. Unfortunately, one of the channels is 88.1, which is used by alot of christian radio stations. One could drive down the road listening to christian rock and suddenly get interrupted by Howerd Stern. Yikes! But that could be another topic.

A friend of mine has one that plugs into the cigarette lighter, and then transmits a signal to the radio, so that the ipod can play through the radio. You could plug it into your dash cig. lighter, or you could wire in another cigarette lighter plug underneath the dash. Just make sure it is only hot with the key on.
Just an idea.

Sorry guys, I just don't like Autosound. Only reason mine has one is because it came with the car when I bought it. For any sounds conversions I would only recommend this guy here.

The man gives 110% and is as honest as the day is long. And....he uses your existing original radio.
