I picked up a complete 289 today. These are the motor codes, 6F17 C5AE-6015E Best I can tell it's a 65-66 block from a full size car?Intake is a 4v number C60E-9425-B I also got a short block 302 E7 code. ------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs HOOD HACKERS DELIGHT! Scoop, From the info you posted theres not enough info to tell what the motor was from. Most all of the 289 Cleveland blocks would have the same casting number until later in the year and the Windsor plant started casting blocks. The block and intake could be for a 66 if the intake was original. I don't recall Ford offering a 4 barrel 289 in a full size car in 65 or 66. A Fairlane or Mustang would be a better guess. Is there a motor tag on the intake anywhere? BTW the intake number should be 9425Mike [This message has been edited by kcode (edited 09-19-2006).]

Mike, there isn't a tag anywhere. The heads have the WF stamped under the valve covers. The was said to be pulled from a 67 Mustang that was already some one else's hot rod. I was told the motor ran when pulled some 15 years ago or so???Thanks your right about the intake number. ------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs

Is any other way to find more about the motor beside the ID tag?------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs HOOD HACKERS DELIGHT! My Pics 13.563 @ 108.64

I am going from memory so bare with me!
I believe that on the block where the starter would normaly be covering, there should be some codes stamped into the block. Also, there should be codes on the heads under the valve covers. You found the WF but there are more numbers in there. Sorry to be so vague. Phil

Scoop, Unless you find the VIN stamp on the block you are out of luck. Even with the tag, it would not specify the vehicle it originally was installed, only displacement, date code and level changes, and place of manufacture.Sorry, Mike
