I was told that I have to swicth from a rear sump pan to a front sump oil pan. Which oil pickup tubes will work with the front sump pan? Can I use a 302 or a big block oil pickup tube?

Thanks again

The pan and pickup tube must match. I dont think a big block pickup tube would work properly with a regular small block pan.

Front drop pans are basically standard on 289/302 engines for the classic mustangs. I think the same pan works on the 351W also. So where-ever you get a front drop pan from youll need to source a pickup tube that matches.

Front sumps are cars. Rear sumps are trucks/SUV.

NPD has both tube and dip sticks.

Thanks I will look into it. I see you are from Tupelo, MS; Are you going to be at the Halloween Fun Run? I saw the event posted at another website.

Thanks for the NPD tip, I bookmarked their site. I also passed it on to a friend of mines from Hawaii.

Would like to make it, but if you look under the other name indicator, I am temporarily in Oceanside, CA. The North Mississippi Cruisers was the club there. Good Folks.

Want to go back and have some sweet tea and barbecue.

Yea, they are members of RodsandWheels.com,
I have heard the tea is good down that way.
The motor goes back together this weekend. Decided to put new head gasket on. Going to put some shorty headers from an 86 mustang on it. Do headers take a special gasket? Or will the regular exhaust gasket do?
