My 1965 Mustang coupe's exhaust manifold has five 1/2" threaded holes with stubby threaded plugs in them that need replacing. Any idea what they're called or where to get them? Thanks.

Are you asking about an in-line six, 289 or 351W??? I'm guessing an in-line six since you said manifold. I'm not seeing anything like it in the National Parts Depot catalog. You may be able to pull a plug and then match it up at a hardware.

My guess is exhaust gas recirculation, which was an anti-pollution feature on California cars. I didn't think they would have that until '67 or '68, but I'm no expert on California. Maybe a later model motor or exhaust manifold in your '65, or maybe the factory just used a plugged CA manifold for a car that was to be shipped to another state. ??? Charlie
