Most four post lifts offer a caster option, you could wheel it out into the driveway, and then raise it to full height. Check the specs for the lift you are looking at, there should be a measurement for the height of the deck, add this to the height of the car and subtract that amount from the 9' ceiling height. That will tell you how high you can go before.......Remember the underside of the car is higher than the deck and the tire touching the deck, you might be able to stand under it even in your garage.

Is there a specific reason for wanting a 4 post lift? The one I have access to is a 2 post and it allows the wheels to hang down so they can be removed easily.

Sal,Step away from the caps lock. Depressing the caps lock into the "on" position may be dangerous to your health. My wife's cousin in Rhode Island has a four post lift for his '67 Shelby. Don't know what the roof height is. What does the literature or web site for the product call for? ------------------ SkinnyMan Tupelo, MS Thank you, Thank you very much!

Never mind those measurements are for the 5th generation Mustang. I'll measure mine in the morning, and it will give you a pretty close estimate. I'm running 15's in front and 14's in the rear right now, one of my tires in back gave up the ghost. I'm gonna guess and say between 52 and 55 inches though.[This message has been edited by 68 Coop (edited 11-18-2006).]

I have a similar issue with the ceiling height in my detached garage, which is 9'. I was seriously looking at getting a Backyard Buddy but I opted for a QuikLift instead. So far, I am very happy with the QuikLift.------------------ Jeff '67 S-code Stang coupe '06 F150 Harley Davidson

I have a 4 post in my pole barn. It has 10' ceilings but I can tell you that even if I stopped raising the car with a foot to go, it's still WAY BETTER than trying to do something without a lift. I spent the extra money and bought a hand operated lift that fits between the rails and slides anywhere along the length of the lift. With that I can jack the car up so the wheels are off the ground at one end of the car at a time. Works great. Also, I paid the extra money for the rolling adapters, it is very difficult to roll the lift around, extremely heavy and it takes several people (3-4) to move it easily. However. I have Linoleum on the floor so the wheels dig into it some, maybe on bare concrete it would work easier. I have had the lift for several years, moved it once!! I bought mine from Greg Smith http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Direct-Lift-Pro-Park-7-p/tppro-park7.htmhttp://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Pro-Jack-3500-Rolling-Jack-p/tpprojack-3500.htm Well worth the investment Ernie ------------------ Red Fire Clearcoat 65 Fastback, 408W. I have a Bendpak 4 post lift and did just what you want to do for my 67 and my son's 68 Mustangs. My ceiling heigth was also 9'. To get it to work I had to raise a section of the ceiling for the roof area of the upper car to fit into. Both mustangs are around 51-52 inches high but that can vary depending on tire size, lift of the springs so it would be best to measure the actual car or leave a little room for error. Also remember that the lift must rest on one of the stops when the car is on it. My lift has them every 6". I ended up raising the ceiling 18". That was way more than I needed to get both cars in (I think 6" would have been enough) but it allowed me to raise the lift to full heigth with a car on it and for extra room should I get a taller car.
