What octane do you guys recommend for a 200 ci inline 6? I have a tank full of 87 in it now but would like to make sure I using what I should.

87 Is what I always used in my '65 200. Used it for about 3 years before switching to the V8 with no problems.

My stock '66 200/manual doesn't like the low octane gas. I use 92 only and can notice the difference.

Perhaps with a better carb (just try to find a 1bbl that works well) and better ignition, 87 would work better. It doesn't ping but just runs noticeably smoother with the 92.

I'm getting ping on acceleration and when climbing hills. Haven't had a chance to check the timing and such since I've been out of town the past few days. Today looks like as good a day as any.

If it still has points make certain the dwell is set correctly.
6 cylinders are very sensitive to dwell/timing relationship.
