Acually...yes. We had started this 66. The car was kid-a in libo. We were introduced by another friend of mine. My son and I went over to his .....nice house. After having a few beers....looking around at his beautiful cars. GTO, Cuda, Shelby #3 built (Polished Aluminum), Ferarri, Ford GT 300, and multiple Mustangs. I got the hair up my A** to get busy on our junker. He was a hell of an inspiration to me.

Thanks Steve.
I found this site about 4 months ago. I looked at every car on the photo site. It really help us work out some issues surround the rebuild. Also, Dallas Mustang's right across the highway from us. That a great bunch of individuals there. I appreciate the welcome from everyone!

The only thing that doesn't work on this Pony are the Emegency Flashers. It's the switch. Where do I find one or is there a substitute switch I can get?

Very Nice!
I know what its like to build a car with my dad. We built my fastback from the ground up. It took us about two years, but the time that we spent and the things that he taught me can never be taken away.
If you, or my dad had just given the car to their son, it would not mean as much as building it and putting your "blood, sweat and tears" into it means. I am sure your son feels the same way.

I had a guy try to trade me an 03 Cobra straight up for the Fastback. I asked him what his car would be worth in 2 years. And then I asked him what mine would be worth in 2 years. "More than it is now." But its not about the money anyway. That car has too much sentimental value.

My dad and I also built a 65 fastback for my brother. He's not as into it as I am, but he enjoys the car. One day if he decides to sell it, it will be sitting in my garage.

But anyway, Welcome aboard!
That coupe turned out great. I love the motor. That's how they are supposed to look. The interior is gorgeous!

Great work and glad to have you here!

RCA, welcome to the forum. I noticed you had put some sticky, non-dynamat stuff up in the roof. I'm wanting to do that too but I'm afraid of it falling down over time. What was the brand you used?

gjz30075, I was looking at the DynoMat and was totally taken buy the cost of it. Then the guy that did my Headliner told me to go to DFW Roofing Supply. It's a Heat/Cold barrier product you place on the decking of your house. It has a sticky base tar with an aluminum over it. You pull off a thin layer to expose the sticky. IT'S STUCK FOR GOOD! It's not coming off.....ever!
Manufactured by: Polyguard Products, Ennis, TX 972-875-8421, It's just called "Peel N Stick". Check with a roofing supply place, they might have it, or want to know about it. $60.00, I covered the whole inside of the car, roof, sides, floorboard and I still have some left over. DynoMat wanted like $350.00 for a few sheets. This is very simular. Let me know if you need anything else.

I just wonder how it would hold up to 120* summers out here in the desert? I bet the roof of my car gets almost hot enough to fry an egg on those days. The patch jobs on the streets/highways get soft enough to pull pieces of the tar off. Cool idea though, I bet it's as quiet as the new cars as far as ride noise.

I was told once I apply it, to use a hair dryer and it would make it stick better. I didn't because once it's applied, it's stuck like chuck. I just rubbed it down really good. It will probably be okay in the the hottest of heat.
It takes the Tin Can effect out of it.

And there's no smell at all from the tar. The glue they used for the Headliner stunk for a few weeks, but that stink is gone.

That a nice car there RCA. Had to be a great time doing that with the son. My son is just 7 and starting to work out in the garage with me.
I can't wait till we can start working on a car for him. I plan on looking around over the next few year to find a affordable car and tuck it away in my inlaws garage. I figure in 8 years when its time to start finding him one Mustangs will be out of reach. If it turns out he wants nothing to do with Mustangs we will build it for my daughter.

65whitestang, those kids....they grow up fast. Between baseball and football with my son. Volleyball and cheerleading with my daughter. Life's Good! The car project, it was a chore. I'd never done anything like this before so the experience was good. I was determined to make it a nice as I could though. Oh yes......spend a lot of money too. You'll have fun.

Thanks. The maroon one is done. Sadly, it sits most of the time because my brother cannot afford to put gas in it.
Lately I have been working on a 66 coupe for a guy, but I just got it finished up.

Now its back to the white fastback.
I have a rear main seal leak, but while I am in there......I may go 347, but I don't know.

FSTBK65, it sounds like you're staying pretty busy. I haven't figured out my gas mileage yet, but it's geting expensive putting pump premium in mine too. Did you and your brother hop up the engine any? And I've got a little nagging leak in my rear seal of the transmission. I've got to do something with it as well. I'm hoping I'll wake up some morning and it will have gone away. That hasn't happened yet.

Nope. His is a 302 2 barrel with stock manifolds and a stock cast iron intake. We rebuilt the motor and reworked the heads. It has hyper. pistons. We did however put my old cam in it....447 lift. Gives it a little bit of a lope. It has a c4 and 3.00 gears in an 8 inch rear.
Other than the cam it is bone stock.

So is the white one!!

Welcome, I love to hear about father and son projects. My first car was a 68 coupe my father helped me with. That was many years ago. The memories last. Are you a member of North Texas Mustang Club? They are real big in the Dallas area. Car looks great. Hope to see you at a show sometime.

63Kcode, thanks! I'm not a member.....as of yet. This project was just to build a nice street rod with my son. However, everybody I show this car to are asking if I'm going to enter car shows. Do you think they're trying to tell me something? I'll check out the club. I guess I need to be a member of something, somewhere now.
