I've got the heater box loose from the firewall, I've got all the clips removed holding the two halfs of the heater box together, but the bottom half still doesn't want to come off all the way. I can get it about an inch apart from the top half.

It seems where the bottom of the heater box attaches to the blower(?) behind the console is where it's hanging up. Can it be disconnected from that?

BTW it's my '67 with factory air. Thanks!

not sure about the aircondition part but the box will be fitted together with the cowl vent above it and the defrost hose vents that will go towards the center of the dash. then the bolts for the fan will be undone in the engine bay. should be 4 of them. then you have your heater hoses.

plus any airconditioning stuff. Don't have air. sorry.

Yep, I took the blend door cable off, thought that was holding it. I think I have to disconnect this giant duct to the blower motor, but I don't see how? Does the whole blower assembly slide out with it?

I took mine right out of the car back in '79. It's out again.(resto) I found it alot easier to do when it's out.

67-8 bad heater core, AC unit with console, etc. is the pits of pits. Out as a unit, nuts on firewall. Be sure that you check your evaporator, also, redo the foam inside, along with the heater core. And test your new core to MAKE SURE it's good! You'll be building gallows to hang yourself if you put it back together and it's bad!! Check your hoses-new kits available, check all vacuum motors. AND......you'll never have a better time to repair a leaky cowl!!!! This is the worst part of a 67-8 Mustang!! 69-70's are kinda fun too !!
