I am replacing my alternator wiring harness as the old one was a home brewed replacement and giving me trouble. I have the new harnes and this is what I figured out so far, please correct me if you know different:STA on Alt white/black wire from alt harness BAT on Alt black/yellow to Bat side of starter relay FLD on Alt white wire from alt harness GND on Alt black/red from alt harness Where does the other end with the larger ring connector get grounded? Somewhere on the engine? Where? This is all on a 65 289 with warning lights. Thanks, hoping to take the car for a couple more rides before the crappy weather sets in. ------------------ Bill M Mystic,CT 65 Convertible 9"rear,5speed ,11"clutch,currently powered by a 302

On the side of the block, a couple inches above the oil pan rail and about an inch back from the front, there is a hole that may have a stud or a bolt. The battery cable is supposed to ground here along with the alternator wire and if you have an automatic that same stud or bolt will secure the bracket that holds the trans cooler lines.

Thanks for the help guys. I plan on getting it back together in a few hours. I was planning on fixing a coolant leak that is gather on top of the waterpump/timing cover area. I'll wait and attack that once the weather turn a little more sour. For now I plan on driving with the top down and heat on!! I did notice last week that trying to put the top up in cold weather the top really contracts and makes it tough. Now I pull it into the garage and turn the heat on for awhile before I try and put it up. I'd leave it down in the garage ,but I have visions of a mouse getting in there and chewing through the top looking to get out.------------------ Bill M Mystic,CT 65 Convertible 9"rear,5speed ,11"clutch,currently powered by a 302
