I might have to drive my 65 this winter. It would only be when it's not snowing that is.
I was thinking it would be a good idea to plug the scoop for the cold mornings. Also do you guys think I need a choke? I don't have one at all now. Any thing else I should be aware of?
I have a good heater now.

4 to 6 sand bags in the trunk will help out with traction too!

Get a hefty girlfriend for the winter and tell her you prefer to drive her around town 'limo style'...have her sit in the backseat for better traction

Then in the Spring after she's gotten tired of riding in the backseat, tell her she can sit up front if she loses some weight

Make it into a Kentucky 4x4, put snow tires on all 4 corners. The front and rear steel rims have to be different colors. Chebby orange is popular.

Buy a beater, and if they drive in Reno like they drive here, make it a tank. I hate to get my car out on clear sunny days, I wouldn't dare to if it snowed here.

I second the 'but a beater' idea. driving in snow is a pain and i would hate to see anything bad happen to your car.

If your not able to then yeah get a choke, a coat, and some gloves.

Richard.

Keep the body clean after it's driven. Not sure what they put on the streets where your at but here in colorado the magchloride will eat the paint.Make sure the antifreeze is up to par too.Make sure the exhaust system is working properly as I'm sure you'll be driving with the windows rolled up.

If you can swing it maybe you can find a real cheap 4x4 subaru brat in the 500.00 to 700.00 range.

You brave.

I used to drive my 69 fastback year roud. So yes, it can be done..

If its a dry day and youve got a quiet place to park it, why not.

Just beware of all those "other " idiots out there who could posibly slide into you etc...

Here by chicago when we get snow, it can be quite a character builder.LOL..(if doing donuts in the snow, make sure there are no cops around, they dont allways think its funny. )

Allmost took the mustang last night to be a smart A**, but I wised up and toook the 4x4 with the new tires....

I'd also suggest a beater... unless your roads clear up between snows.

I drove my 66 yesterday, but the roads were clear and most of the snow has melted away even in the shady spots. I did plug it in, though (I have a block heater as the 5.0L shortblock grew up in a Minnesotan 97 Explorer), so the heat was on nearly instantly.
