72 ford f100 front lockouts just 2 wheel and 4 wheel shifter in truck truck goes good in 3 feet of snow but when you hit the road with no snow it bucks and broncs so bad you have to take it out of 4 wheel,does this sound like different gear ratios front and back or ? i just bought the truck.its like the backs are trying to push the fronts

Could it be different tire sizes?But At least when I had my landrover the owners manual was very clear NOT to run in 4x4 while on dry pavement. I forgot to unluck the front hubs one time and after about 30 mins of highway driving the front diff blew. if you have equal tire sizes then it its concievable that you have a PO that put different ratio in the back and always ran in 2wd. Its easy to tell, jack it up, put it in neutral and turn the tires - counting revolutions of the driveshafts More to the point you might have more expertise if you post in the truck forum...
