Does anyone have a low mileage or well preserved car that has a unmolested firewall pad on it.I would like to see (picture)what the insulation originaly looked like.Mainly the finish on the compartment side..Black???..Jute???

I bought one of those very expensive pads (NPD) for my 68 and they removed all the insulation around the heater box as apposed to just perforating (like the cheaper ones) and leaving it up to the owner. As both my cars are now heater delete the pad is now useless to me.Ford did not cut it out on delete cars..

I am exploring the idea of making the pad myself ...

The insulation in both cars is/was beyond saving and badly worn..

The only thing I can help with here is the color of the one in my car, and it's black. I don't know if this will help or not, but behind where the heater box USED to be, there's a big hole cut out in the shape of an enlongated D. I'm pretty sure it came with the car, so if you want I can try to get some decent pics of it and email them to you. What color is Jute by the way, I did a search but the best I can figure out from that was it's a Tan? Let me know on the pics, and I'll do what I can.

The new pad I have is supposed to be correct for concours and it is black,So you have confirmed that part for me..

Jute is many colors, weaves and textures. Its kind of like carpet underlay.

On a heater delete car there is a tin cover screwed(from the inside) over the heater motor hole and plastic plugs in the heater hose holes. The insulation runs solid across the firewall where the heater box would be.

Now that i know it was black I dont see a problem making 2 of these pads.I will just sell the other one.

Thanks.....Cory
