I have a '68 Mustang with a '65 steering wheel and what I believe are a '65 steering column and '68 turn signal switch.

When I tighten the nut to install the steering wheel, the back of the wheel snugs up so tight on the collar at the top of the column that the wheel barely turns. If I back the nut off some then the wheel rocks and there's some play as the wheel catches up to the splines on the shaft. Any ideas?

Also, the steering wheel seems to have a metal turn signal cancel cam on the back of it and the turn signal swtich has a plastic cancel cam in its center. I assume I don't need the plastic one?

Thanks again.
