Do any 68 Cougars use an 8-pin connector for the instrument cluster? I have seen plenty that look like they use a 12-pin connector but maybe these are early 68s. I guess the main thing I need to look for is the crescent shaped connector that is common on for the 68 column switch. Anybody know of a wiring schematic on line so I can compare these with a Mustang that seem more plentiful?

How about the engine compartment harness? Is this the same between the Cougar and the Mustang for 68s?

Hey KK,

Any idea if the 68 Cougar and mustang harnesses are the same for the engine compartment or under the dash?

Thanks,

I figured out part of it at least the other day. Most if not all or the Tach (XR7) harnesses I’ve seen have the 12 pin. The Mustang Harness would be no use since the clusters are equipped differently. The Tach on the Cougar had a light for the brakes while the Mustang had two lights in it for the Amps and the oil pressure.

All times are ET (US)
