Did anyone see that awesome Boss 429 Cyclone Spoiler II on My Classic car? What a cool car. Much sharper than the King Cobra in my opinion.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First NHRA & IHRA 289 automatic Superstock Mustang in the TENS 06-99 First SS/MA in the TENS 04-03 IHRA division 5 Superstock Champion Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Yeah Alex i saw that show-youre right beautiful looking car-that guy has quite a collection? There have been topics on other forums as to how REAL that car is-some people say it was bulit for a Mercury exe. others say no-never happened-someone copied the king cobra nose an placed it on the 70 spoiler. Still a wild car with that BOSS 429

You talking about the '70 Boss 9 spoiler II? There are pictures of it in 1970 era magazines. The door lines are different between the Torino and Cyclone so a King Cobra nose would not be an exact fit. If it's the car I think it is (orange?), Steve has had the nose for many years waiting to find a good '70 Cyclone candidate. He actually found THE Cyclone.Tracy

Mr. Trucker I didnt catch the whole show an the cyclone segment came asa total surprise that i may have missed some of the comments. T guy had a 64 T-Bolt that they were talking about an then Gage said lets look at your other cars-he goes by THE yellow King-Cobra-which they had done a show on maybe a yr ago an next to it is the Spoiler11-total caught me off guard. They talk about the desgin, motor an interior, the nose an the spoilers-never once did he say it was a ONE OF A KIND CAR or he had the nose installed. I do belive his name to be Steve. Like you i have seen photos of that car in front of Ford hdq. an also read articiles about it. It also showed up at some Ford&Mercury shows before-at least some people from other forums have [posted pictures of it at shows I cant see there being anymore than the 1 heck there are only suppose to be 3 of the King-Cobras-an iam sure that yellow one sold on Barrett-Jackson about 2 yrs ago. Thats all i know about the car an most of it is here-say an according to Judge Judy-that dont count? If you can add any info id be interested ed

Yep I'm planning on being there also!!!!! On Thursady when we where walking around in the rain.... My wife said, "lets go in this tent", but I say, "look at the lines I ain't going in there". she says' "no dummy, though those doors"... NO one was there... so I do and I come face to face with the 3 GT40 winners of the 1966 Lemans..... That made me my day I stood there like a fish out of water trying get my next breath... The real cars setting in front of a picture of the actual win and they where in the correct poistions.... I will never for get that event as long as I live.... The cars, the history and getting the chance to really see them in person. Seems that everyone was lined up for auto graphs from Dale Jarret and Mark Martin.... Thats great but looking at theses legends was over whemming, I didn't need a signature.

Pardon the dumb question--- I've heard about the King Cobra from time to time-- but never really knew what made it so special? Anyone have a link where I can read up on it?

I remember that too, it was amazing to see all three of them there parked in formation. My favorite memory is of watching the George Follmer '70 Boss 302 drive into the tent and then a few days later see it come back out. I'm not into hero worship so I didn't want any autographs either, even though I was introduced to Steve Saleen and ended up getting a signed poster anyway. Did you see the line for Shelby? ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 XL

I saw the line for Shelby also... after years of being in the Navy and standing in a line to do just about everything... Last thing I'm doing is standing in line on vacation. That was the best car event I have ever attended... Probly never again see such great Ford Iron together all in one place... Hey did you see the Aussy Guys with their Ford falcons all made up like Mad Max cars? The fellow that owned the clone of the Mad Max Interceptor, had me set in the car with black leather jacket on and a start the car and take a bunch of photos.. He was so cool and so excited about being there...

I spent about an hour talking to one guy that had driven his from somewhere in Washington state or Vancouver or some place like that, and he introduced me to the guy from Australia that owned the Mad Max replica. Real nice guys. We were in the tent behind those Spoiler and King Cobra cars when one of the guys fired up an original Ford GT and he was revving the bejebus out of it. That was cool. Another memorable moment was when I was right in front of one of Pearson's Torinos and they fired three stock cars at the same time. Two Pearson #17s, and the #18 in the corner. {I think also a Pearson car.} Three NASCAR big blocks {a 427 and two 429s} revving to 4000-5000 {my guess} filled the tent with savage music! Definitely a "You really had to be there experience." I was about four feet away from the car and I thought that if the thing would slip in gear and kill me, at least I'd die with a smile on my face!

The orange King Cobra has a Boss 9 under the hood and a convex rear window.Steve has found the '64 T-Bolt he used to own (in 1964). I saw it at the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green last year. I went to visit Steve a few years ago. That's when he told me about his quest for the Cyclone. This King Cobra has a Can-Am 494 wedge under the hood.
