1983 ltd wagon. fuel guage does not work at all. at least that was what i thought. i just noticed that when i turn the ign. on the guage will move just enough to notice but still stay on the empty mark. with the ign. off, it is a little below the mark. what is wrong??------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-302-7.25 @93mph 1/8 1.54 60ft 50 % of the fun dragracing is meeting people who will give you the shirt off their back to wipe the grease off your hands. Do you have less than twenty bucks worth of gas... nowadays that won't make the guage move.

Pull the wire off your sending unit and ground it. Turn the ignition on. If the gauge swings full scale to full, you need a sender. If it doesn't move, you have a break in the wire or a printed circut/gauge problem. If you can't get to the wire to remove it from the sender, just probe it with your test light and ground the probe.
