Dave_C's '69 Mustang Fastback Drag Car

The car was sold new locally in Gadsden, Al and has remained in that area for 31 years. The car was purchased by Dave_C in 1990 and started out as a driver / restomod while be transformed into a drag car over the last 10 years.

Power is by a 383-W stroker that includes Windsor Sr heads, Comp Cams solid roller cam (.624/.628, 262/272 @ 108, 104 LCA). 6.125 steel rods, 3.70 stroke, 13:1 Ross domed pistons, Vic. Jr Intake, Holley 750 DP, roller rockers, stud and main girdles, Hooker headers, MSD distributor and 7AL2 box. Trans is a C-6 w/ manual reverse valve body and a custom 8" 5400 stall converter by PTC. Best time to date footbraking is a 6.95 @ 98 in the 1/8 mile. 60' time of 1.52. A transbrake is coming soon that should improve the times.

The car has been back-halfed with a new rear frame section and has a narrowed 9" rear (40" wide) with back brace. Suspension is ladder bar with Strange coil-overs. The rear has Moser 33 spline axles and spool. Wheels are 15X15 Weld Draglites (15X4 up front) with Goodyear 14X32 slicks.

The interior has a full 12 pt cage. The cage started out as an 8 pt kit roll bar from S & W Racecars and was upgraded to a 14 pt full cage with the back-half. The interior and dash were done in .040 alumium with gauges and tach from Auto-Meter. The side windows were replaced with lexan to save weight, but the rest of the glass is still original. The car weighs in at 3000 lbs with driver and 5 gallons of VP race gas.
